Jenny Jaeckel is the author of House of Rougeaux, her debut novel, winner of an IBPA Benjamin Franklin Award for Historical Fiction and was named one of Bitch Media's 25 Must Read Books of 2018; and the forthcoming companion book Boy, Falling, to be published by Black Rose Writing in July 2021.
Her previous titles, published by Raincloud Press, include: For the Love of Meat: Nine Illustrated Stories and Siberiak: My Cold War Adventure on the River Ob. In 2016, Jaeckel published the graphic memoir Spot 12: Five Months in the Neonatal ICU, which was the winner of a 2017 Next Generation Indie Book Award. Spot 12 was also a 2016 finalist in the Foreword Indies Book Awards. Jaeckel has appeared as a guest on the popular parenting podcast ONE BAD MOTHER, The Art of Being podcast, Quill & Ink Podcast, Parrot Literary Corner, and What Are You Reading, What Are You Writing with Karen E. Jaeckel holds a Bachelor of Arts in Creative Writing from The Evergreen State College, Olympia, Washington and a Master’s Degree in Hispanic Literatures from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. She has worked as a translator, an editor, a Spanish teacher, a graphic arts teacher and an illustrator. Raised in California, she now lives in Victoria, British Columbia, with her family.
